SAM'S STORY

Why I started Spring Home Mortgage Brokerage

SAM'S STORY

From full-time kollel to mortgage broker.

In 2020, during COVID, I decided it was time to leave full-time kollel and find a career. I took the decision seriously. I read, took personality tests, met with mentors, and tried to understand what kind of work would hold my interest for the long term.

At first, I thought financial advising was the answer. I liked numbers and markets, so it seemed like a natural fit. But as I learned more about the day-to-day work, I realized it was not what I was looking for.

A mentor suggested mortgage brokering. Once I entered the business, it clicked. I learned customer service, spent my extra time studying Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines, and found that I genuinely liked the puzzle of a difficult mortgage file.

Over the next several years, I originated mortgages inside independent brokerages and later ran my own mortgage group within a larger company. I learned what borrowers need from a broker: clear explanations, close attention to the details, access to multiple wholesale lenders, and updates before they have to ask.

I started Spring Home Company to bring those things together. We are an independent mortgage brokerage based in Toms River, New Jersey, serving homebuyers and real-estate investors in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas. We work with first-time homebuyers, self-employed borrowers, investors, and clients whose income or loan scenario needs a closer look.

I cannot promise that every file will qualify. What I can promise is that we will study the full picture, explain the available options plainly, and look for a loan structure that fits current lender and underwriting guidelines.

That is still the part of the work I enjoy most: understanding the details, finding the path that fits, and making sure the client knows what is happening along the way.

Four things we won't compromise on.

These aren't posters on a wall. They're how we decide which lender to send your file to, which fees to fight, and when to tell you to slow down.

01

Plain-English math

You should be able to explain your own mortgage to a friend. If you can't, we haven't done our job. Every rate quote comes with the numbers behind it — not just a monthly payment on a colorful PDF.

02

40+ lenders, one advisor

We're not tied to one bank's rate sheet. Your file gets shopped across our wholesale panel, and the best combination of rate, costs, and speed wins. You still work with one person the entire time.

03

Answer the phone

Sunday afternoon, offer deadline Monday morning — you can reach us. Same for the appraiser question, the underwriter condition, and the "is this normal?" text. Radio silence is not part of our service.

04

Broker-owned

We're not a call center with a broker sticker on it. Spring Home is owned and operated by one person who's still writing loans — so the incentives line up with yours, not with a corporate quarter.

Reviews are loaded from Google by a third-party widget. If it does not load or is hard to use with your assistive technology, call or text 732-908-8040 and we will read them to you.

our mission →

A first home shouldn't start with a no.

At Spring Home Company, we believe a first home shouldn't start with a no. Too many first-time buyers are denied loans they deserve, then left without guidance on the biggest purchase of their lives.

We fight for the approval. We restructure, find another path, or build a roadmap to yes — even if it takes years. We are patient, available, and transparent every step of the way. And if we're ever not the best option for you, we'll be honest enough to say so.

Our job isn't just closing loans. It's turning first-time buyers into confident homeowners.

our core values →

Five things we live by.

01

Guidance

"The closing count never outranks the client."

  • Listen first. Understand their story before you ever quote a rate.
  • Success is a client saying “I couldn't have done this without you” — and then coming back.
02

Simplicity

"A first home is intimidating enough. The mortgage shouldn't be."

  • Plain English, no jargon.
  • If a client asks twice, we didn't explain it well the first time.
03

Persistence

"A denial isn't the end. It's the starting point."

  • Restructure, find another path, or build a roadmap to approval — however long it takes.
04

Transparency

"Silence is how trust dies."

  • Borrowers get updates before they have to ask “what's going on with my loan?”
05

Urgency

"Speed and attention protect the borrower."

  • Same-day responses.
  • No file sits untouched overnight.
